The Earth in Focus exhibit explores the advantages and benefits of observing the Earth from the unique point of view of space. Visitors will discover the technologies and innovations of the Canadian space program through interactive and immersive experiences, including a mix of stunning photographs taken by astronauts, associated with satellite imagery. Drawing links to their own experiences, visitors will better understand how the data collected from space help us feed a growing population, keep people safe from dangers such as forest fires and extreme weather, and monitor our changing planet.
Sit back and relax in Astronomy in Action’s planetarium. Enjoy stunning 4K visuals in a professionally presented 360-degree theatre allows you to experience the universe with wonder and awe. This year's show, The Planets, is a tour of the solar system, showing the gorgeous imagery of the planets of our solar system, while sharing some of the latest discoveries from spacecraft visiting these incredible worlds
Canadian Space Agency Astronaut Jeremy Hansen
Jeremy Hansen was raised on a farm near Ailsa Craig, Ontario, until moving to Ingersoll for his high school years. He has been passionate about aerospace from an early age and credits the Royal Canadian Air Cadet Program with helping him achieve his goals. His time in the cadets, from the ages of 12 to 18, prepared him to enroll in the Royal Canadian Air Force, where he became a CF-18 fighter pilot in several squadrons.
Colonel Hansen was selected as an astronaut candidate in May 2009. Since 2011, he has been a full-fledged astronaut and has represented the Canadian Space Agency at NASA. In 2017, he became the first Canadian to be entrusted with leading a NASA astronaut class, which means that he was in charge of training astronaut candidates from the United States and Canada.
Jeremy Hansen is a crew member of the Artemis II mission, the first crewed flight test of the Orion spacecraft launching on the SLS rocket. He will become the first Canadian to ever venture around the Moon.
