Update from the CEO

It is my distinct pleasure to announce to you the repatriation of our Chipmunk C-FPOW to the museum. This aircraft was originally donated to the museum by one of our founding members - Mr. John Weir, and subsequently sold. Fortunately we are now able to bring her home again, as early as next week. Dave Rohrer - CEO

CWH says goodbye to another good friend…

DUNBAR, Maj. Cyril James “Cy” (Ret’d) - After a heroic and dignified battle with cancer, Cy passed away peacefully in QEII Health Sciences Centre on April 18, 2008, with his family by his side. He was deeply loved by Joan, his wife of 49 years; his son, Michael; daughters, Laurie and Jane; son-in-law, Guy; daughter-in-law, Monica, and by his grandchildren, Patrick and Ellen Dunbar-Lavoie, and Jon and Leif Dunbar. He is survived by his brothers, Lee and Richard, and his sisters, Hope, Marilyn, and Joan. We are thankful for the exceptional care Cy received from the wonderful staff and the QEII. In particular, we would like to thank Dr. Sean Christie, Dr. Judy MacNeill, and our dear friend, Dr. Leif Sigurdson. Cy was an inspiration both in life and in his death. He was a selfless, wise and learned man, who had something to teach each and every one of us. He was an excellent aviator and proudly served our country for 25 years as a Canadian Armed Forces search and rescue pilot. Cy enriched the lives of all who had the good grace to know him. He will be forever missed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society of a charity of your choice…. From the Halifax Chronicle Herald, Sunday, April 20th, 2008. Cy was a Lancaster pilot at CWH..
