The AH-64 Apache is an American twin-turboshaft attack helicopter with a tailwheel-type landing gear arrangement and a tandem cockpit for a crew of two. It features a nose-mounted sensor suite for target acquisition and night vision systems. It is armed with a 30 mm (1.18 in) M230 chain gun and can carry a mixture of AGM-114 Hellfire missiles and Hydra 70 rocket pods. The US Army 1st Air Cavalry division is one of the most decorated divisions in the army. It was created in 1921 and has served as a horseback cavalry division until 1943, an infantry division, an air assault division and an armored division during its existence. Helicopters were first used during the Vietnam war, and the AH-64 Apache was accepted into production in 1984. |
