Skies Magazine publisher Mike Reyno took this amazing photo of the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum’s Avro Lancaster bomber in May 2018. For 2018, the left side of the museum’s Lancaster carries the markings of 24-year-old Wing Commander Guy Gibson’s aircraft AJ-G, which had two Canadians on board when he led the daring raid. The aircraft is proudly displaying special markings commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Second World War Dambusters Raid, in which 19 Lancasters attacked three German dams under cover of darkness. Two dams were breached while a third was damaged, causing water to flood the industrial valley. |
