Oh Canada - A Lament
June 8 - November 15, 2010

The
Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum is pleased to present an
exciting exhibit by acclaimed Canadian artist Joanne Tod.
In her work, Oh Canada, A Lament, Joanne Tod was inspired
by her uncle, Private James Alexander Tod and his contribution
to WWII. He was killed in Italy in 1944 and Tod inherited
several of his letters home. After reading them, she saw a
correlation to the men and women risking their lives today
in Afghanistan. This prompted her to begin a portrait series,
painting each of the Canadian soldiers killed in the Afghan
conflict.
