The City of Hamilton and It’s Squadrons

This exhibit pays tribute to the City of Hamilton and its
wartime efforts, as well as, the Squadrons and people who
represented the Steel city during World War II. Featured are
photographs and artifacts from both 119 and 424 Squadron along
with the story of their development during the years 1939-45
and post war.

Also
on display is the Gerry Bell Collection, a Hamilton native
and Canada’s first black pilot.
The
Eric Slater Collection

The
Eric Slater Collection of photographs showcases Slater’s
own unique wartime experience with both Bomber Command and
the Tactical Air Force. Souvenirs such as uniform buttons,
badges and Nazi regalia have been included within the frames
as mementos of his service in Europe during the Second World
War.
The
Raid on Dieppe

The
Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum, IPMS Hamilton Modellers
Club has constructed aircraft models similar to those which
fought in the Raid on Dieppe. Operation Jubilee, in which
several Canadian Squadrons participated, is examined along
with the contributions of famed airman Hollis Hills and Freddie
Clarke.

Ist
Canadian Parachute Batallion

This
exhibit shows the scenes of Canada’s famous Battalion
in action during WWII. The RCAF was called upon to perform
many roles, including the dropping of troops behind enemy
lines.
Memorial
Book

The
Memorial book, “They Shall Grow Not Old” is on
display in a quiet alcove of the gallery for visitors who
wish to search for names of family members and loved ones
who lost their lives during the second World War.
Lancaster
Tail Display

See
a re-enactment of a Royal Air Force Lancaster crew returning
from a Bombing Operation and the equipment they would have
used on the flight. This exhibit is currently dedicated to
the Canadian crew of 150 Squadron.
