Our Patron, The Prince of Wales

His Royal Highness Prince Charles, The Prince of Wales, has been the Patron of The Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum since January 1, 1981. The Museum was honoured to welcome the Prince of Wales on April 26, 1996 when he made a visit to the museum to officially open our new facility.

More than 400 organizations across the Commonwealth have the Prince as Patron or President and we are honoured to be among them.

The Prince’s official website is www.princeofwales.gov.uk

The following is a message from our Patron, HRH Prince Charles, The Prince of Wales, just before his visit in 1996:

HRH Prince of Wales

As Patron of the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum, I was horrified to hear of the devastating fire in February 1993. I am delighted to be told of the immense efforts going into rebuilding what was destroyed and the work that is going into making the museum bigger and better than before. This year, the 50th Anniversary of the Landings in Normandy, reminds us that it is more important than ever to preserve as many historically significant military aircraft and aviation artifacts as possible. These continue to remind us of the huge contribution Canadians made to the Allied cause for the preservation of peace.

I send my very best wishes for the success of such an ambitious endeavor in raising funds for your new museum facility.
