Accepted by the Navy on 5 February 1970, F-4J s/n 157269 first went to VF-121 then VF-92. Later going back to VF-121 then VF-114, VMFAT-101 and VMFA-235. Converted to F-4S and assigned to VMFA-122 and VMFAT-101. On August 1, 1984 while with VMFAT-101 collided mid air with another Phantom. Both aircraft were returning from a training mission to MCAS Yuma. The crew of the other aircraft ejected and F-4 s/n157267 landed safely. Sent to AMARC on Feb 26 1986.
