Description: Crashed and abandoned on the Greenland ice cap during their original World War II mission, six P-38 Lightnings and two B-17 bombers of The Lost Squadron awaited discovery.
Fifty years later, a 1992 expedition battled arctic extremes to recover one of the P-38s. It was discovered under 260 feet of ice, but they hoped to restore it and, one day, fly it again.

In The Flight of Glacier Girl, follow the rescue of one of the P-38s - named "Glacier Girl" - from the ice of Greenland to its new home in Middlesboro, Kentucky.
See vintage P-38 fighter plane video, dramatic home video taken at the glacier recovery site and still photos of the pilots at the crash site in 1942. Plus, hear enthralling memories from the pilots who survived.

This incredible story pays homage to the last of the great prop-driven fighters of World War II, and to the dedication and determination of the men who made the recovery and restoration possible.
Additional Info: Run time: 1 hr 50 min. Colour and B&W.
