Description: In The Big Aircraft Carrier, views will learn the basics of everything that goes into making an aircraft carrier work. Starting with an introduction to the USS Nimitz at North Island Naval Air Station, where the nuclear-powered ship is based, the program continues with what goes into making the ship work. After a presentation of the different planes associated with the ship, the program shows what each type of flight crew member does and the different shirts used, the its time for the mission! The Big Aircraft Carrier coves everything that goes into preparation for a pilot to take off from the deck of the ship, then launches a flight mission. After everyone returns safely, ship life is presented, from shopping in the store to attending church services. Then the Nimitz returns to port, finally showing what goes into a normal docking procedure. The Big Aircraft Carrier is a fun learning experience designed for children, but presented in such a way that it can be both enjoyable and informative for adults as well!
